PARTICLE MODEL OF MATTER how particles behave in matter (move, their shape)
STATES OF MATTER
Liquid
liquid particles move faster than solid particles and they have a fair space inbetween each other. they are also able to slide over each other not like solid particles that just vibrate

PHASE CHANGES
melting
melting happens when a solid turns into a liquid. This happens when a solid is heated up, because heat gives energy a solid will get energy when heated up and the particles will get spaces and start to move instead of vibrate and become liquid.
freezing/solidify
freezing/solidifying happens when a liquid turns into a solid. This happens when a liquid is cooled down to 100F. At 100F a liquid starts to freeze (solidify). cooling reduces energy so if you cool down a liquid the particles will have less energy and that is what makes it solid.
condensation
condensation happens when a gas turns into a liquid.this happens when water vapour cools down, because cooling down reduces energy the gas turns into a liquid because liquids particles have less energy than a gas so if you were to cool down a gas it would turn into a liquid.
evaporation
Evapouration happens when a liquid turns into a gas. This happens when you heat up a liquid. e.g when boiling water you are adding heat to the water which gives it energy. If you add energy to a liquid some of the particles will turn into gas because gases have more energy than a liquid
