Definition of helping
Helping process: The helper’s personality combined with specific skills produce a growth condition that lead to definite importance to the person and society
Helper must develop a helping style that is comfortable and
effective for him
Important terms
Encompasses all the activities we use to assist another person,
whether we have therapeutic relationship or not
Helping only requires a person desiring help (a client), someone
willing and able to give help (a helper) and a conducive setting
(Hackney & Cormier, 2005)
