External Communication
It is the communication where the message is directed outside the company, that is, it is directed towards consumers, the general public, opinion groups, etc. Its objective is to inform about the existence of a product or service, to inform about its main benefits or characteristics, to inform about the activities in which the company participates, etc.
Internal communication
It is the communication where the message is directed within the company, that is, it is directed towards its staff. Its objective is to report events, report occurrences, coordinate activities, organize tasks, control, motivate, lead, etc.
This type of internal communication can be divided into formal communication and informal communication:
• Formal Communication: is one where the message originates from a member of a certain hierarchical level, and is addressed to a member of a lower hierarchical level, a higher level, or the same level; following channels formally established by the company.
• Informal Communication: is one where the message circulates among the members of the company, without knowing precisely its origin, and without following channels formally established by the company.
And, in turn, internal communication can also be divided into vertical downward communication, vertical upward communication, and horizontal communication.
