Ecology
Biotic Factors: Living entities, and their effects, both direct and indirect, that alter or dictate the behavior, survival, and or reproduction of a species.
Competition: The condition when other organisms or specimens compete for resources (food, water, shelter etc), space, or mates when demand exceeds supply.
Habitat: the surrounding area, biotic and abiotic, that interacts with an organism and gives the parameters of survival.

Abiotic Factors: External conditions, objects, or entities that alter or dictate the behavior, survival, and/or reproduction of a species.
The Sun: A fusion star located within the solar system that provides light and heat energy for all life on earth, directly or indirectly.
Food Chain: A basic visual diagram demonstrating the basic movement of energy through feeding relationships. All food chains MUST start with a producer and end with a decomposer.
-
Limiting Factors: any biotic or abiotic condition or element that prevents or reduces the ability of a species to grow in population within a region.
The Energy Pyramid: a diagram representing the net volume of chemical energy within a species, and its relation with its food source and predators, if applicable.
