There is an urgent need to motivate the workers
Offer a short term plan to show that there is a plan in action behind the cut backs and the current situation is temporary

Bonus checks will be given if x% of profits are attained
Give each worker a personal goal/ mission they are motivated by, related to the internal problem, so as to each contribute the its solution.
Machinery
old and poor quality of machinery
rather "safe than sorry" attitude. If the machinery breaks the hotel does not have back up and will have a much bigger problem.
Poor machinery affects the quality of the service which is currently crucial
the need to find finances for new machinery
conduct an analysis with the finance department to see where more cutbacks ca&n be make. Ex: on the consumption.
Negotiate with the supplier of the machinery to try get a better deal
Stay with the old machinery but already put in place an outsourcing laundry service for emergencies.
With the new motivational plan in place, we hope the service quality will pick up and so will the finances.
