Conditions of the larynx
LARYNGITIS

Sings and symptoms
- Sore throat that is scratchy
- cough
- hoarseness
Pathophysiology
- It caused by infection,
- white blood cell blood cells remove microorganisms during the healing process
- The vocal folds then become more edematous, and vibration is adversely affected.
- tobacco smoking and alcohol consumption should be temporarily reduced
Nursing care plan
Nursing Diagnosis
- Ineffective breathing pattern may be related to inflammatory process possibly by evidence by restlessness
Problems
- Ineffective breathing pattern
- Ineffective airway clearance
- Anxiety and fatigue
Management
- Increase intake of fluids to prevent the throat from being dry
- Encourage the patient not to shout or straining the vocal cord
- take and complete antibiotics prescribed
- Give patient cough medication as prescribed

Aetiology and risk factors
- caused by cigarette smoking
- tobacco and alcohol increases the risk of developing laryngeal cancer
Pathophysiology
- squamous cell carcinoma arise in the respiratory tract
- cancer is spread in larynx
Sings and symptoms
- hoarseness for two weeks
- violent coughing episodes
- fixations if the vocal cords
Nursing Care Plan
Problems
- acute pain , Anxiety, Fatigue, risk of fluid volume deficit and risk of infection
Nursing Diagnosis
Acute pain related by disease process or side effects as evidenced by reported pain
Management
- Radiation therapy
- chemotherapy
