METHODS OF WIRING
MINERAL-INSULATED CABLES
- the cable provides an excellent earth conductor and is the safest form of installation.
- resists corrosion and in unaffected by extrames of heat.
- the connections to joint boxes must be sealed.
- essential when installing the cable that the magnesium oxide powder does not come into contact with the surrounding air.
- this tube is then filled with magnesium oxide powder which has been subjected to controlled drying.
- the cable is laid below ground level but is brought above ground at substations and inside buildings.
- high voltage cable is protected below ground by tiles.
- armoured cable is used for mains and submains.
- should be armoured to afford protection from mechanical damage.
- PREFABRICATED WIRING SYSTEM
- reduce site labour, and since the kits are factory assembled to the highest standards the installation of automatically of a high standard.
- packed in kit form for delivery to the site.
- enable the electrical installation for a house to be prefabricated in a factory
CONDUIT SYSTEMS
- if the conduit is of metal, to provide an earth conductor.
- provide mechanical protection of the cables, permit rewiring.
