Termination of an Offer - Coggle Diagram

      - D withdrew the offer after 3 weeks
      - P claimed he wasn't entitled to do so- the court disagreed
      - to keep offer open for 6 weeks P would have to had made a separate contract with D on this point, supported by consideration
    - - letter of revocation takes effect on receipt by the offeree not on posting

        1st oct- D posted a letter offering to sell tin-plater
        
        8th oct- D posted a letter revoking the offer
        
        11th oct- P telegraphed acceptance
        
        20th- P received letter of revocation
        
        HELD- the letter of revocation did not take effect until it was received therefore the contract was made on the 11th of October

        20th June- D offered to sell house to P-> offer remain open until 9:00 a.m on 12th June
        
        11th June- a 3rd party told P that D was selling to someone else
        
        P purported to accept the offer
        
        HELD- when told that D had sold to someone else, P knew that the offer was no longer open therefore the offer was validly revoked
  - - - father (Errington) bought house for son and daughter in law to live in
      - father promised if they paid mortgage installments the house could be theirs
      - the father died and representatives sought to revoke the offer
      - HELD- couldn't revoke the offer because the father issued a unilateral offer which couldn't be revoked as they were paying mortgage installments
