Biological Explanation:
inflammation and narrowing of the airways and lungs. Alveoli become permanently damaged.

Fumes, chemicals, dust.
Cystic Fibrosis:
Symptoms:
recurring chest infections
wheezing
coughing
shortness of breath
malnutrition
Biological explanation:
A defect in a gene on chromosome 7 that controls movement of salt and water in and out of the cells in the body.
Protein that is produced by that gene causes mucus-secreting cells to make a very sticky type of mucus.
Causes:
Genetics - both parents have the mutated gene.
