Positive Psychology for Tyler Steinke
Internal locus of control
Anger Trigger: I start to bite my lip and cheek. I get quiet and isolate myself from everyone. I sometimes get red and hot and eat more. Question: Is there another way out of this?
Reframing
Others think that I don't work enough to be as good as am in baseball. But I like to think that I work hard enough on my own time to excel at my sport
Some people think I don't have the skills to do what I want. I like to think that I can prove them wrong.
Some people think I am too lazy to be athletic. I like to think that if you get to a certain point it is okay to take a break.
Words to live by (Cognitive Restructuring)
Live every day like it's your last. If you always look at what's behind you, you'll never know what hit ya. Try to become better every day. Don't back down. Spend time with loved ones. Look forward to what you have to live for. Value the things that have meaning in your life. Go enjoy the outdoors. Communicate with people you care about. Trust God will have your back.
My Goal
My goal is to be able to take baseball as far as I can.

May 17:
It is a Monday and I have my very first baseball game today.
I got a good lunch of chicken for lunch which is my favorite school meal.
I got picked up from school which normally doesn't happen to me.
I got a hamburger and Mnt. Dew before the game to give me some energy.
I got to play in the final inning and hit a rocket past the third basemen.
Downward Comparison
My downward comparison is my sister. I have mostly been successful when it comes to sports and being fairly safe. She used to be just like that hitting doubles and triples all of the time, playing for traveling softball teams. Ever since she tore her second ACL she has had a rough road to recovery and has had a difficult time getting back into the sport.
Positive Affirmations
I have incredible baseball skills
I have a fairly positive mindset.
I have successful friendships.
