Book Cover Assessment requirements and Brief:
Brief:
Use traditional and contemporary photo media techniques to create an image for the book cover of a fiction novel.
The photo media should maintain hierarchy and express the writing genre with the use of limited typography.
Title and author (your name) text to be included in the design but as mentioned the image is to be the focal point.
Assesment requirements
Part 1
A.) Choose a writing genre (e.g. science fiction) and research artistic genres and artists whose work could influence your final photo media piece
B.) Find a suitable image from a good quality magazine / book or hand render a piece to incorporate into your work –ensure it is of good quality and scan at a high resolution 300dpi (at least 2MB), include your own captured image utilising various camera settings (see below) and download a high resolution image from suitable sources on the internet (unsplash or pixel bay)
C.) Document where you got images fromand provide evidence of images, through research intellectual property, copyright and creative commons
D.) Write a rationale where you discuss the use of traditional and current options for the use of photo media in your proposed design. Describing traditional and contemporary issues that inform your use of photomedia in your proposed design.
Part 2
A.) Explore and experiment with technology towards your final piece
B.) Adjusting features of the DSLR or other camera you are using
C.) Potentially combining technologies
D.) Conducting photomedia trials using different technical settings
E.) Documenting your processes,technical setting detailsand safe work practices whilst using photomedia equipment
Part 3
A.) Explore and experiment with creativity towards yourfinal piece
B.) Conducting creative trials, either physical and/or digital.
C.) Analyse and documentyour creative trials as your idea evolves, with photographs, scans or digital files
D.) Create your final photo media piece to the specifications listed in checklist below
E.) Document peer discussion and provide feedback from at least 2 sources on your final outcome in your visual diary
F.) From your feedback complete the checklist provided with all thedetails about your final piece
