        • Generally encouraging learners to view themselves as part of a community with similar learning objectives and attempting similar task, possibly at the same time.
        
        Features useful in vocabulary learning?
        Sonbul and Schmitt (2010) consider the usefulness of direct learning of vocabulary, and find learners do better when they are exposed to vocabulary both “incidentally” and through explicit instruction, and that the combination of the two results in the most learning gains.
