Advantages:
- Large surface area To volume ratio makes them effective catalysts
- Nanoparticles in suncream can be absorbed deeper into the skin

Disadvantages:
- Easily become airborne, breathing in could potentially damage the lungs
- Could be toxic to some types of body cells
- small so can more easily enter the skin and therefore the bloodstream
- Large surface area can make them too reactive and explosive in some situations
