A ritual that began to spread at the end of the fifteenth century, during the reign of Henry VII, a period in which the abundant consumption of meat was a common habit in the palace, especially among the royal guards, whose nickname was just "Beefeaters", literally "beef eaters". Are the guards to start the tradition of Sunday roast beef, cooking the meat the morning before Mass. The practice was consolidated during the nineteenth century: the women left the meat to cook in the ovens of the countries, which on Sundays were closed, to resume it then back from the church, perfectly roasted.
