        Pre and Post Test Comparisons:
        
        Another way to use Diagnostic Tests is to show students the progress they have made throughout the unit by using the same "diagnostic" test as your summative assessment at the end of the unit. This can boost student self esteem, but be sure to include some open ended questions so that high achieving/advanced students can also see meaningful progress. Teachers can also use the comparisons to analyze their teaching methods and success or failure to advance learning in specific students or as a class.
