Why did the area need regeneration
Pirelli factory
The pirelli factory took up the area of where west quay now is.
it was there from 1914 up until the 1990's
Due to the factory being abandoned for a long time there where many problems that occured due to it
It was visually unappealing due to it being right in the middle of the city center.
The ground was polluted with mercury and cadmium which is known to cause cancer.
Anti social behaviour and crime was happening here. A lot of drug use was happening in here.
