Lack of Health Care Providers: The WHO report recommends two doctors per 10,000 people, however Gambia only has one doctor per 10,000 which is not enough for the high rate of diseases and sicknesses.
Water: Only 32% of households in Gambia have access to clean water. With 4 percent of the rural population practicing open defecation, water, sanitation and hygiene-related diseases account for 20 percent of under-5 deaths.
HIV/AIDS :Only 30 percent of people in Gambia with HIV/AIDS are seeking medical attention. Gambia has worked to decrease the transmissions between children and adults. The establishment of programs HIV infections have decreased by 3% and AIDs-related deaths have decreased by 23%.
