NORTH AMERICA GENERAL
INFORMATION
North America also includes the huge Greenland Island in the northeast and the islands that are located in the north of the Atlantic Ocean, with that at its northern end the continent extends for almost half of the globe.
. FIVE PHYSICAL REGIONS OF NORTH AMERICA:
A biome is a community of animals and plants spreading over an extensive area with a relatively uniform climate.
Western Physical Region
:In addition to mountains, deserts, and forests, the northern part of the western region of North America also has the richest deposits of oil and natural gas on the continent.
The Great Plains
:The Great Plains are also home to rich deposits of oil and natural gas.
The Canadian Shield
:The Canadian Shield is characterized by a rocky landscape pocked by an astounding number of lakes.
The eastern region
:This varied region includes the Appalachian Mountains and the Atlantic coastal plain.
Coastal plains of the Mexican Gulf:
Found almost entirely within the United States,the North American Coastal Plain stretches from a small section of northern Mexico along the Gulf of Mexico and up the East Coast to southeastern Massachusetts.
NATURAL WONDERS OF
NORTH AMERICA
Denali, the highest summit in the subcontinent. It is in Alaska. Denali, the indigenous name means "the tallest" "the biggest".
CENTRAL AMERICA IMPORTANT INFORMATION
It is, then,the strip of land that joins the other two subcontinents, North America and South America.
RELIEF:
The North American mountain system continues in Central America where it is called the Cordillera Central which crosses all the countries of this region.
HYDROGRAPHY
:Central America does not have long rivers due to its isthmic geography.
CLIMATE:
The tropical climate is the dominant one, although it also depends on the altitude.
THE CARIBBEAN REGION
This region includes more than 7,000 islands, islets, and coral reefs.
