Social Media & Mental Health
Importance of this topic
Many people can relate
Talk about how people can change their life if they're unhappy and always using social media
can help people identify possible issues within their personal habits and how often they use social media, and in return can identify more clearly if the frequent use of social media may play a part in any unhappiness with themselves or the quality of their life.
These are very valuable lessons because it allows us to be more mindful of how these habits that are socially accepted, can mentally affect us without us realizing it.
It’s important to know as technology becomes more advanced

Disconnection from Reality
people are so invested in social media
the constant use of social media can completely detach us from reality and disconnect us from the real world

Personal Experience/Research

Long-term & short-term effects
There are ways that people can fix their bad habits with social media and positively increase their levels of happiness and overall quality of life
I think that making some of that behavioral knowledge aware to some people can do real-world good
No one went in to using social media frequently while knowing how it could negatively affect us
it is very important for us to be aware of what this could do to us, mentally, and be more aware of issues that we are unknowingly putting onto ourselves.
IF we were aware of the possible negative effects of constantly being on social media, we could be more mindful of the time we spend on there and be more mindful of our overall habits/thought processes when we’re scrolling through different apps.
Disconnection & Frequent Social Media Affecting Happiness
Becoming aware of this possible effect can help them decrease the amount of time they spend on their phone or social media
which could in return increase their levels of happiness and can help solve some of their overall struggles with their self-esteem or quality of life.
This should matter to people because if they’re struggling mentally or having personal issues with happiness or self-worth, they can reflect on how much time they spend on social media or their phone in GENERAL to escape reality.
being zoned in on social media instead of actively living out our lives without being attached to technology, can negatively affect our happiness and overall quality of life.
