STORAGE
It must be used immediately.
if not used immediately must be stored in the fridge with temp of 2-8 degrees Celsius.
definition
used to treat high high blood calcium levels (hypercalcemia) that may be occurring because of cancer.
also be used with chemotherapy , to treat bone problems.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
patient with a history of angioedema
patient with a history of serious rash
anaphylaxis or patient being hypersensitive towards the components of this acid.
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION
intravenously infusion
over about 15-30 minutes
and can be given 12- 24 months
MECHANISM OF ACTION
it inhibit osteoclasts proliferation (Coxon et al 2000)
also induces osteoclast apoptotic cell death (Benford et al 2001)
its potency results from its high affirnity for mineralized bone, especially for sites of high bone turnover (Nancollas et al (2006)
slows the bone breakdown by increasing the bone thickness, as well as decreasing the amount of calcium from the bones to the blood.
