they were quakers meaning they were religious but pacifists, didnt want to fight
people were being too nice to the millitary
percy boddy refused to fight and got jailed, earning him support of other men
the Cadbury brothers and others would've had a big buissness so didnt want to fight as they'd lose profit
they stayed at the frontline to save lives of the fallen men
some people would've thought that the war wasnt something they needed to involve themselves in
many a few men might've acctually known how bad this war would've been and knew they wouldnt make it out alive
they thought it was a capitalist war, between imperialist powers and it had nothing to do with men of their class.
didnt feel they were really needed due to being of a working class
some may have wanted to stay at home and protect their families from what couldve been death, they wanted to help their children and their lovers,
they were just straight up scared as to what would happen during the war
they had mouths to feed, if there lover was a stay-at-home parent, they would slowly go hungry
they didnt want to have to go throught the suffering of watching their friends die in front of them
they might've felt like they would've been useless to the soldiers
they were unprepared and so it wouldve confused them
they lacked expierience in shooting and war and all of that stuff so wouldve been left behind
they were perfectly happy at home, where they were they didnt want that to change
they had a high rolled job that they couuldnt afford to lose
they were over/under aged
they had a healthy condition
