trenches

the German trenches were 40 foot deep

there was barbed wire that you could get stuck in

sandbags stopped bullets but the bag would pop and sand would go everywhere so they needed to change the sandbag frequently

there was trench rats that carried many different diseases

it was wet at the bottom of the trenches and having wet feet for too long could cause trenchfoot

they only had little shelter and little food
