First Dzong of Bhutan
Simtokha Dzong
Simtokha Dzong is also known as Sangak Zabdhon Phodrang (translates to fort of deep significance of Secret Mantras).

It was built in 1629 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, this is the first dzong to provide administrative facilities and serves as the home of institute for Language and Culture Studies.

Wangdue Phodrang Dzong
When Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel was in Chimi Lhakhang at Punakha, an old cripple approached him and told him that if he built a dzong in Wangdue Phodrang on a ridge that resembled a sleeping elephant, he would unite the country.

Rinpung Dzong is a large dzong - Buddhist monastery and fortress - of the Drukpa Lineage of the Kagyu school in Paro District, Bhutan. It houses the district Monastic Body and government administrative offices of Paro Dzongkhag.
Famous as Paro Dzong, it was built in 1644 under the order of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.

Punakha
The Punakha Dzong, also known as Pungthang Dewa chhenbi Phodrang (meaning "the palace of great happiness or bliss"), is the administrative centre of Punakha District in Punakha, Bhutan.
When the Zhabdrung visited Punakha he chose the tip of the trunk of the sleeping elephant at the confluence of the Mo Chhu and Pho Chhu as the place to build a dzong.
