- Nixon ran against McGovern and won by a landslide - Nixon happened to ruin his 2nd term with the Watergate scandal - Nixon did not trust many people and that is why he made the plan to bug the Democratic Committee building because he wanted to win.
1968
- Nixon ran against Hubert Humphrey
- Nixon campaigns to obtain Law & Order
- Really tried to get the "Silent Majority" to vote for him
- Appealed to blue collar voters & Southern whites by opposing bussing

Watergate
- 1972 - Men broke into the building to bug the Democratic National Committee office. - goal was to steal information. - The investigation all leads to Nixon and his CREEP (Committee to Re-elect the President) team. - William Felt was the source the Reporters were getting their information from. - With tapes, hush money, and fake recordings, Nixon resigned.

China
- Nixon sat down with Zhou Enlai and Communist Party Chairman Mao Zedong. - important because it was a step to normalizing diplomatic relations with China. - Allowed Americans to start traveling to China and companies to set up trade.
Middle East
- Nixon and Kissinger wanted to relax Arab-Israel tension in the Yom Kippur War. - Kissinger started negotiations. Kissinger shuttled back and fourth from DC to the middle East. - USA reached a deal and Israel would pull back and USA would give military aid to both Israel and Egypt. - Helped reduce Soviet influence in M.E.
USSR
- Reduce pollution & enhance environment quality
- Joint U.S.-Soviet Space mission
- Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty (SALT 1) this treaty froze the deployment of ICBM's, placed limitations on ABM's, and limited nuke production.
