Mechanism of action
which is converted to its triphosphate form(ACV-TP)
competitively inhibits DNA polymrase
is converted to acyclovir
Indications
treatment of herpes simplex virus ifection
including herpes labialis and herpes genitalis
indicated treatment of herpes zoster infection
treatment of varicella infection (chickenpox)
Contraindicationd
chronic kidneydisease stage 4, failure, and 3B
thrombtic thrombocytopenic purpura (blood disorder)
it is contraindicated with dehydration
haemolytic uremic syndrome
Side effects

Storage conditions
store at room temperature
between 15degrees celcius and 25 degrees celcius
keep away from light
Nursing considerations
give with meals to decrease GI upset if needed
advise continued use of sex practices
begin the treatment with 72 hours of the onset symptoms
provide appropriate analgesics for headache or discomfort
