What is differentiated instruction?
If you've done even just one of these examples (on your right)...you've already differentiated instruction!
give students time to provide feedback to teachers on how tools/strategies have worked for them;
model instructional practices/demonstrate examples;
give students some independence with such interventions/tools but also leave room for students to feel comfortable enough to reach out for assistance;
use diagrams, graphics and pictures to express/explain content or ideas;
give regular, quality feedback using techniques that work for students;
ask a lot of questions (check for understanding visually or verbally);
break learning into small steps;
Other common tools for the differentiated classroom
cooperative learning groups
project-based learning
projects, presentations, research, hands-on learning
mini-lessons (either through video, audio or visual presentations)
field trips
Strategies, Accommodations (all differentiation!)
Other Resources
