RADİCAL NUMBERS
How to read radicals?
The √ symbol is called the radical symbol. The expression √9 is read as "root
nine", "radical nine", or "the square root of nine".
Roots
Square Roots
For example, consider the following √36. This is read as “the square root of 36" or "radical 36". Also, 6
2 = 6.6 =36, and therefore conclude that 6 is the root of
√36. The answer √36=6
Cube Roots
For example, the cube root of 8 is 2 because 2
3= 2.2.2 =8 . This can also be written as 3√8 = 2.
Other Roots
For example 4√a is called the “fourth root of a," and 20√a is called the “twentieth root of a."
