Confirmation bias
A historian might be tempted to appeal only to evidence that supports their own case, and to ignore any counter-evidence.
National bias
Since people come to history with a range of pre-existing cultural and political prejudices, they may find it difficult to deal objectively with sensitive issues that touch on things like national pride.
Understanding the past

Secondary Source: A ssecond-hand account of a historical event, such as a history textbook.
Primary source: Any object or written source from the time or based on the time being studied, for example the eye-witness account of a soldier fighting in the Second World War would be a primary source even if it was written fifty years after the event.
Synthesis: The placing together of different parts or elements (evidence) to form a connected whole.
