Maya Civilization, 500 BC-800 AD
-LOCATION:The ancient Maya Civilization occupied much of the central North American continent based on the gulf coast
-DAILY LIFE:This includes their amazing complex artwork (particularly murals), their advanced water control system, and their graceful pyramids.
-GOVERNMENT:The Maya were a group of independent city-states, which shared cultural qualities.
-RELIGION However, many Maya villages remained remote from Spanish colonial authority, and for the most part continued to manage their own affairs. Maya communities and the nuclear family maintained their traditional day-to-day life.
Olmec Civilization, 1200-400 BC

-DAILY LIFE:built enormous pyramids, invented the Mesoamerican ballgame, domesticated beans, and developed the earliest writing in the Americas. The Olmec also domesticated the cacao tree and gave the world chocolate!

-RELIGION American Indian cultures growing in the region and mixed it with the juice of a local vine .
Caral Supe Civilization, 3000-2500 BC
location:villages of the Caral Supe were located along the coast of central Peru.
daily life: condor and pelican bones, and cornets made of deer and llama bones.The most impressive achievement of these civilizations was its monumental architecture, including large earthwork platform mounds and sunken circular plazas.
government:The idea of government would have been borrowed or copied, in this small group, government was invented.
religion: Chavín culture

Zapotec Civilization, 500 BC-750 AD
-LOCATION:The capital city of the Zapotec Civilization is Monte Alban in the valley of Oaxaca in central Mexico.
-DAILY LIFE:The capital is also known for its astronomical observatory Building J and Los Danzantes, a stunning carved record of captive and slain warriors and kings.

-RELIGIONLike most Mesoamerican religious systems, the Zapotec religion was polytheistic.
