Ethnic Orientation - do you come from a collectivistic/gemeinschaft type culture, or a individualistic/gesellschaft type culture
Religious Orientation - unified systems of beliefs and values have influence on communities and give the community moral strength and behavioral stability

Chronosystem Influences
Economic - changes influence job stability, if instability created, family stress and fragmentation can occur
Technological - advances improve standards, but also take away from family time by creating busyness, multitasking, distraction, confusion, and stress.
Political - Domestic, Immigration, and Foreign policies all affect family stressors and successes.
Basic Structure
Types of family emphasis, patriarchal, matriarchal, and egalitarian
Support networks - Immediate family, personal network, formal network, societal influences
Nuclear Family, family of orientation, family of procreation
Family Work
Political and social forces are continually devaluing family work. Paid work and status are promoted as what is important, even when attempting to promote value of motherhood responsibilities.
