        Britain would remain neutral. However: Signed British treaty stated that Britain would come to its defence if another country attempted to invade its borders- causing Britain to be brought into the war.
    - - August 3, 1914- British demanded Germany withdraw its troops from Belgium before midnight with the threat of declaration of war.
        
        August 4, 1914- no response- Britain declared war on Germany.
        
        It was expected Italy would join its allies with Germany and Austria- however under the alliance agreement- one country did not have to support the other if one were the aggressor- Italy remained neutral. Switching sides in may of 1915
        
        October 1914- turkey entered the war-triple alliance.
