Improving thought processes: educate the family and the patient causes of emotional instability and also assist them in coping with mood swings, irritability and depression
Increased ability to do self care duties: educate patient and family how to monitor blood pressure, blood glucose levels and weight
teach the patient to avoid defaulting from taking corticosteroid and be in risk of symptoms re-appearing
Diet
The nurse teaches the need for adequate calcium intake without increasing the risk of hypertension, hyperglycemia and obesity
Recommend foods high in protein, calcium and vitamin D to lessen muscle wasting and osteoporosis.
Pathophysiology
Hypothalamus secretes CRH; pituitary secretes ACTH to adrenals which produce cortisol of which is liable for metabolic function

Pituitary or ectopic tumor, releasing excess ACTH causes bilateral adrenal hyperplasia
