Has the lockdown affected Ontario?
Non Essential Stores
Small Businesses
Small businesses will continue to lose money and struggle to stay open, many jobs being lost and people left with no income to pay bills and buy essentials.
Big Box Stores
Stores will continue to remain closed with the only source of income being curb side pickups. Many employees stay at home with no pay because there is no need for them to work.
"We fully support lockdown and we hope to see more change in cases. From now until the end of lockdown we will continue with curb side pickup and maintain our regular hours."
Ontarians
Children and Teens
Children and teens will continue to stay at home where it is safe and will do school online. The children and teens won't get sick or spread covid to anyone.
Adults
All the parents and Adults who are essential workers will continue to work their normal hours and those who aren't essential will be at home doing work online or not at all.
"We are glad that the government is doing their best to make sure the spread of covid slows down or even stops and we will follow the rules to make sure that its possible so that we can begin to get life back to normal."
Health and Safety
With people continuing to stay at home we will keep seeing positive changes in the the number of new cases and have people safe in their home stopping the spread.
Grocery and Drug Stores
Drug Stores
Drug stores will insure that all of the medicines are ready for when people arrive and that essential items are being stocked and sold to the public. They will also limit the number of people aloud in the stores and ensure that people are distancing.
Grocery Stores
Grocery stores will continue to keep shelves stocked and make sure that all safety measures are being kept up with like social distancing and limiting the amount of people in the stores
"While grocery stores remain open we will still be required to maintain and clean and safe area for all customers and we want to make sure that everyone stays sanitized and social distanced inside our store at all times."
Provincial Government
Cash Handouts
The provincial government of Ontario has been giving out cash handout to parents for the support of the kids with $400 called "pandemic payout", The government has also been helping out small business owners as the lockdown has brought down sales .
Ontario Budget
The Ontario government is spend billions on emerging from COVID-19, the budget has been tight and people have been trying to get paid sick leave, the provincial government has been pushing off the idea of paid sick leave and instead putting money into covid tests, contact tracing and helping out small business owners.
"We have been trying to figure out a way to make sure all Ontario citizens are getting the tested when sick or has been in contact with someone who has had covid, and are figuring out ways to put money where most needed."
Workers
Non- Essential Workers
Ontario has lost more than 153,000 jobs in the month of January alone, this means that more people are going unemployed and are becoming eligible for the government paying them.
Essential Workers
Essential workers are starting to fear that the latest shutdown will do very little from protecting themselves from covid. Essential workers are working the same if not more hour than regular and while taking all the safety precautions people are still getting sick.
"With all of the safety precautions being done people are still getting sick and we feel stricter rules should be made until we see more positive change."
Travel
Canadian Traveler's
Ontario has restricted travel from manitoba and Quebec as their provinces have been getting worse, this meant the only travel coming from those provinces were for work, health care services, transportation and delivery of goods
Non-Canadian Travel
Ontario and Canada as a whole has been trying to avoid non-essential travel from all countries and whenever travel does happen people are required to quarantine for 2 weeks after arrival.
"With the exception of only essential travel we will stop the variants from coming into Canada and keep the spread minimal."
