NURSING INTERVENTIONS
This is one of the dangerous conditions resulting from very high blood glucose levels
AETIOLOGY
Inflammation process raises blood glucose Levels
When glucose Level is higher than the normal ranges for the long period of time, it lead to polyurria
HHNS is usually triggered by illness such as common cold or bacterial infection
as the body pull water inside the cells trying to get rid of excessive glucose
This leads to dehydration, electrolytes imbalance as sodium, potassium and chloride lost
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Fever
Fatigue
Dehydration
Polydipsia
Polyurria
ASSIGNMENT
Loss of appetite
High fever
Warm, dry skin that does not sweat
Blood glucose Levels more than 600mg/dl
NURSING INTERVENTIONS
Frequently assess levels of consciousness and mentation
Monitor for hyperthermia and treat with antipyretics
Monitoring of vital signs for hypotension and tachycardia
Administer iv fluids like Normal Saline to maintain fluid Balance
Administer insulin to reduce blood glucose Level
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
It occurs when the body is unable to excrete excess sauger in the blood
then the blood becomes more concentrated but it does not produce Ketones
