CLIENT
James Alberry is wishing to open up a new business called ‘FeatherLight’ based in Sydney, Australia focused on selling high quality pens. James wants to have a modern but simplistic design, with elements that reflect his company’s brand and identity. He approaches manufacturing with an environmentally friendly perspective and wishes to use materials that do not harm the ecosystem.
The client wants to produce and sell these products domestically (in Australia) rather than export overseas. The company’s main ambition is to produce extravagant, high quality pens made from strong but light materials. The client wants the pen to be well-balanced and have a good grip for the user. The client aims to produce this product for a gender-neutral audience as the market for these types of pens contains people from all genders but from a high socio-economic background. James requires that the company branding is visible not only on the pen but in the physical design of the pen.
CONTEXT
The pen would be found in display cases within expensive stores or within its relevant packaging. These stores would sell high quality souvenirs or are stores that specialize in upper market pens.
