Renewable Energy Resources
Solar Energy
Solar Energy is energy from the sun. Scientists have created machines like Solar power plants and solar panels to generate energy within a community. Solar power plants can generate electricity by transforming sunlight into energy with some turbines and connected generators. Solar panels can also work to gather solar energy to heat water and homes.
Wind Energy
Wind energy is energy created from wind turbines that spin rapidly because of the wind. These produce a lot of electricity for a nearby community, and are often found within a wind farm.
Water Energy
Water energy can be mostly produced in two ways; Hydroelectric Power and Tidal Power
Hydroelectric power
Hydroelectric power is electricity produced by flowing water. Humans create dams nearby powerfull rivers in order to create a lot of electricty by using a turbine inside the dam.
Tidal power
Tidal power is very similar to hydroelectric power; the only difference is that tidal power is near coastal areas. When there is a big difference between high and low tides, the water can pass through turbines connected to generators producing energy.
Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is thermal energy used from Earth's interior to heat up power plants in order to create electricity. Humans drill holes so that this heat can reach water in order to create steam. The steam turns turbines connected to generators that produces electricity.
Biomass Energy
Biomass energy is energy produced by burning organic matter, such as wood, food scraps, and alcohol. By burning them down, you can create electricity and create other useful substances, like Ethanol and Biodiesel to emit less harmful pollutants into the atmosphere.
Disadvantages and Advantages
Disadvantages
Some disadvantages for renewable resources is that they cost a lot and are used in specific areas. Solar energy might not as well work in cloudy days, Wind energy requires a lot of space and areas with a lot of wind, Water energy also needs to be near powerful bodies of water, Geothermal energy cant be used in specific areas, and Biomass energy is less efficient than fossil fuels and is very costly to transport; however, renewable resources are much better than fossil fuels if you combine them all together.
Advantages
Some advantages to renewable resources are that they are infinite and will last for a long time. They also emit less harmful substances into the atmosphere and don't pollute the world.
Managing Renewable Energy Resources
The world is rapidly changing and we might as well change how we produce our energy. Renewable resources are extremely important to the world. That's why many countries have decided to use renewable resources. Somethings that we can do is educate others about this type of energy and use it for your daily needs. In the future, you can buy these sources of energy to create a less harmful and polluted Earth.
