Indications
Control hypocalcemia in patients on chronic renal dialysis
Hyperparathyroidism in chronic kidney disease patients
Hypocalcemia in patients with hypoparathyroidism & pseudohypoparathyroidism
Contraindications
Hypercalcemia
Breastfeeding
Vitamin D toxicity
Patients with increased risk to calcium dysregulation
Side effects
Abdominal/ stomach pain
Apathy
Bone pain
BUN & creatinine increased
Cardiac arrhythmia
Changes in behavior;
Constipation
Decreased libido
Psychosis
