People who move out of their home due to forced displacement (such as a natural disaster or civil unrest) can be described as displaced persons or, if they remain in the country of origin, as internally displaced persons. A person seeking refuge in another country may, if the reason for leaving the country of origin is political, religious or other form of persecution, make a formal application to that country where he seeks refuge and is then generally described [by whom? ] as an asylum seeker. If this application is successful, this person's legal status becomes refugee.
