- - - - when he doesn't see her out with the usual kids, he goes and checks on her progress in the hospital
        
        He is very watchful, but maybe comes off as a bit of a creep. Some parents worried that he might have been a pedophile. But sensible parents knew of his hero background (and good character) enough to trust him as an unofficial watchman for the neighborhood kids.
        
        Kids love him, though. They trust him.
        
        He finds ways to bond with the neighborhood kids, initiating elaborate games of manhunt and flashlight tag to keep them occupied. When he's played, he never lost. The kids are mystified to this day.
        
        His house was a safe haven for kids. If there was trouble at home, or if there was a place they just wanted to go to be away from their parents/school, it was his place.
        
        As the kids get older, they stop coming around. Mukei is the only one left who regularly comes to visit him.
        
        This is where he find her struggling so much, and he can't help but assist her
- - - - She suddenly becomes more aware of her swirling array of emotions, and she begins to sob
        
        The old man understands these feeling well, not just from the many who he has used his quirk on, but his own experience. His heart aches.
        
        I did this! was the most prominent feeling he could feel. She was blaming herself.
        Mama and Daddy are sad...angry at Mukei
        He couldn't believe it, despite this being so difficult for her, she was thinking of the people that were hurting as well. She was so selfless, and he also understood that feeling. That feeling of not being there for the people who love you.
        
        he gently squeezes her hand, "Oh, sweet girl. They aren't mad at you. They are scared for you. but not mad."
        
        Unsure of what else to do, Mukei hugs the old man, the only one who truly understands her in that moment.
        
        He holds her back and gently rocks her as she is finally able to release these confused emotions.

- - - - His eyes wonder back to the doorframe. His eyes are drawn to the much clearer name, written more recently, but still showing signs of wear.

        His hand reaches up, and rests on the name. As he gathers himself, he rises, and sees more marks.
