This features are driven by cognition, or mental faculty of knowing, which includes perceiving, recognizing, judging, reasoning, conceiving and imaging.
4Cs
Identify the language needed to learn in the CLIL classroom. -- Scince language (language of learning): both expressions and vocabulary and language need for interaction (language for and through learning) expressing opinion, use of dictionary...
- COGNITION
Step 2: Encourage to use HOTS AND LOTS (using bloom and Gardner template) - Planning activities for developing thinking skills - present students with activities, opportunities to verbalize strategies.
Step 1: Practice and experience over theory or abstract concepts. The CLIL teacher provides plenty of opportunities for experience. (include content from different subjects, select contents meanigulful real, prioritize the content which best develop our global goals.
Step 3: "self" and "other" awareness, identity, citizenship and progression towards pluricultural understanding. Culture: English speaking countries, their own culture... and community: our loca community, parents involved, collaboration work...
Planning a unit in four step: 1. considering the content, 2. connecting content with cognition, 3. communication (defining language learning in use), 4r Developing cultural awareness and opportunities.
Other Cs to consider:
COMPETENCE: will be archived after considerable time being exposed to a CLIL environment, after the initial stages of interlingual, fossilization...
CONFIDENCE: is the result of the teacher's guidance, proper planificación, and good practice I class: confident students that do no hesitate to risk to speak up and communicative...
DUAL FOCUSED
CONTENT and LANGUAGE
The adicional language is used for the learning and teaching of both content and language. When we teaching and learning process there is a focus not only on content, not only in language. - The essential of CLIL is the INTEGRATION
CLIL IS NOT:
Methodology, it's not now a form of language, it's not a new form of subject education, it's not only to bright students. CLIL is A UMBRELLA TEMR: covering a dozen or more educational approaches (inmesion, bilingual, multilingual..)
