types of optics
Geometric optics: studies the behavior of light propogated in straight lines called rays
Physical optics: we consider lights as waves, that is, including all wave phenomena
Quantum optics: light is considered a corpuscle
Mirror: Is any smooth surface that reflects all the rays of light it receives Plane mirror: Reflective surface is flat and images are formed are really reflections of objects. Spherical mirror: Is formed by a section of a reflective sphere. There are two types: Concave and convex.
Snell's Law: discovered that the index of refractionis calculated by the ratio of the speed od light in the first and second medium
Lenses: Are transparent objects, made of crystal or transparent plastic, and are limited by two surfaces: one spherical and one flat or two spherical. It can be: converging lens or diverging lens.
Index of refraction: Is the ratio between the sine of the angle of incidence and the sine of the angle of refraction.
Total internal reflection: When a ray of light passes from one medium is optically denser to a less dense medium, it is refracted away from the normal.
Waves and oscillation
Periodic Motion: Are movements that repeat themselves with the same condition, after a period of time.
Simple harmonic motion: Periodic motion that presents motion in which a mass repeats its trajectory. Oscillatory motion: Periodic motion in which a mass repeats the trajectory.

A wave is the propagation of one disturbance in space without transfer of matter. 4 types: Mechanical waves, electromagnetic waves, transverse waves, longitudinal waves.
Characteristics of waves: Fequency (f), Period (T), Wavelength, amplitude of wave, speed, crests, valleys and nodes.
Phenomena of waves: Reflection, refraction, superposition, interference, diffraction, stationary waves, and resonance.
Acoustics
sound
Characteristics of sound
1.- the pitch: is the frequency of the wave
2.- timbre: is the quality of the sound waves
3.- intensity: describes the amplitud of the wave
