Importance of Air and Water

Managing Air and Water Resources

Air

Water

To live we have need some things like resting and socializing, but the 2 most important factors for living is air and water.

Air is needed for every living things because it functions to breathe, but when using fossil fuels for daily needs, the air can get polluted which can harm you body and create multiple factors.

Fresh water is only 0.9% of all of the water on Earth which means it its very rare. The problem is, scientist pollute water a lot because they use it for industry, electricity production, household activities, transportation, and recreation. An example can be how water can be mixed with fertilizers when irrigating fields. This can cause multiple problems.

Smog

Acid Precipitation

Natural Events

Smog is produced by fossil fuels. Photochemical smog is a brownish haze produced when nitrogen compounds and other pollutants in the air react in the presence of sunlight. Smog can also do harm for humans like irritate your respiratory system and increase the chance of asthma attacks.

Some compounds that are released by fossil fuels can also make the water acidic. Acid precipitation is precipitation that has a pH less than 5.6

Not only fossil fuels emit things into the atmosphere, but natural events too. Forests fires and volcanic eruptions release gases, ash and sun into the air that can also cause similar health problems like the others listed below in smog.

What you can do

An effective way to end water and air pollution is creating laws. The US have already made 2 laws correlated to water and air pollution, and since they did these laws, air and water pollution has decreased dramatically. This is because they limit the amount of toxins that companies release into the air wich can decrease water and air pollution.

Air Pollution

Water Pollution

Something you can do related to air pollution is to use renewable energy and clean your air-conditioner or heating filters so that you don't release harmful toxins in your home or the atmosphere. You can also use energy-saving lightbulbs.

What you can do towards water pollution is disposing harmful chemicals in the water you use so that when it runs off into streams, it isn't that polluted. You can also help clean up litter from local streams and conserve water, so that everybody in the future has enough water available.
