Why did Jesus become our sheperd?

Because we have sinned, become astray

1 Peter 2:25

Astray like sheep, but we have returned

Sinful Man is the lost lamb

God looks for us and doesnt give up until he finds us

"God loves every person as if there was no one else to love."

Symbolism

We are sheep

God guards the gate of the flock

God prevents us from falling into sin

Gates are hard to access so
it isn't easy for thieves and
robbers to access

Easily influenced

Thieves

Evil will tempt us away and 'steal us'

Word of God will counter these thieves

How does the shepherd
take care of the sheep?

By the shepherd's voice

chances of falling into sin

By the sacrifice of Jesus

The more we feel the sacrifice,
the less we dare to sin

Wander and get lost

Stubborn

Can't take care of themselves

Carry the sheep

Shows he cares

considers us important

Because we are weak and helpless

No joy is more beautiful to God
than to find us as lost sheep
