Share prices started to drop because industries were producing more than they could sell
This caused a panic and people started to sell their shares immediately, further lowering their value
Those who depended on shares and even indebted themselves to buy them were left stranded
The Wall Street Crash soon affected industry. As production declined, unemployment rose and money became scarce. As factories closed, workers found themselves unable to pay rent or to repay mortgages, or even to buy food.
