in 1850, state legislature appropriated funds to acquire seventy acres of land to build a campus

graduated from Indiana Institution

established school only a week after alumni reunion

tried his best to establish a school to cater to deaf children that couldnt attend the institution

lack of state funding led to its downfall

as well as kurney being let go

all went downhill after he was let go, his name is what made the school successful
