Zoom
To start a meeting, first go to www.zoom.us. After this, if you have an account already made, click 'Host a Meeting'. When you do this, it will ask you if you want to to join 'with video on', 'with video off', or if you want to 'share your screen only'. Click on the appropriate choice for your meeting. After you click on that, there will be a pop up that asks you to click the button that says 'open zoom.us'.
Once you are in the meeting, you can look at the bottom of the screen to see various options. Some of these options include: mute/unmute yourself, stop/start video, security, participants, share screen, record, raise hand, breakout rooms
If you would like to invite others to your zoom call, you can click 'participants' and then 'invite'. When you click on invite, many of your contacts will pop up, but if you are trying to invite someone who is not in your contacts, you can click on 'copy invite link' and send it to their email address.
If you want to end the call, just click on the end button in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
Google Hangouts
Start a meeting by going to
https://hangouts.google.com/
and signing into your Google account. You will be brought to your Google Hangouts home page.
To invite someone for a chat or video call, click "New Conversation" and enter in their email address. This generates an invitation that is sent to their email. Once they've accepted, their name will show up under you conversations section, which you click on to initiate chat.
Once you've started the chat, you can send messages to each other, add others to your group chat, or initiate a Google Meet video call.
During a Google Meet video call, you can control features like turning your camera on/off, audio on/off, and presenting. In presenter mode, you can share your screen with the other participants. Another great feature is whiteboarding, which allows participants to collaboratively brainstorm and sketch ideas.
To end the Google Meet video call, click on the red phone symbol at the bottom of your screen.
Microsoft Teams
At the top you can see meeting participants, the chat box, Emojis and a breakout room. When clicking on the 3 dots, a user can apply background effects and record the meeting. The arrow allows a user to share their screen or certain documents.
There are 2 options for leaving a meeting. A user may click the red button to leave individually or end the meeting for all participants. A teacher with a classroom of students is recommended to click 'end meeting' so students are not in the room unsupervised.
Start a meeting by clicking on Microsoft Teams. Click Calendar. Click Meet now. Give a name to the meeting. Click Join Now. Invite people to the meeting.
