Pathopysiology
Confusion occurs when a person has difficulty understanding a situation or has disordered or unclear thoughts. Confusion can increase slowly over time or come on abruptly, depending on what the cause may be. The reason for confusion may be that it is associated with serious infections. Depending on the cause, confusion may be a temporary, a treatable condition, or it may be progressive.
