Jesus: Son of God, and God the son, the second person in the trinity

Gnostic Christianity: Also known as Gnosticism is a collection of religious ideas and systems. These various groups emphasized personal spiritual knowledge over the conventional orthodox teachings.
Canonical gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John share the same basic outline: Jesus begins his public ministry in conjunction with that of John the Baptist, calls disciples, teaches and heals and confronts the Pharisees, dies on the cross, and is raised from the dead.
Synoptic Gospels: Including Mark Matthew and Luke include many of the same stories as the canonical gospels sometimes even word for word but do vary from John
Mystical Gospel – John, Gospel of Thomas: Written by Apostle Thomas the text is rejected by modern scholars. This book includes themes like eternal life, messiah, identity, witness, and signs.
Gospel of Mary Magdalene: A gnostic gospel where Mary Magdalene appears as a disciple, singled out by Jesus for special teachings. In this gospel other disciples are discouraged while they grieve Jesus' death. Mary stands up and attempts to comfort them, reminding them that Jesus' presence remains with them.
Gospel of Judas: contradicts the mythical gospel. Says Jesus told Judas "You will be cursed for generations" , "You will come to rule over them" and "You will exceed all of them, for you will sacrifice the man that clothes me."
Paul of Tarsus: also known as Paul the Apostle or Saint Paul spread the teachings of Jesus in the first century. Acredited with the creation of the New Testament.
Council of Nicaea: the first effort to attain consensus in the church through an assembly representing all Christendom
Crusades: Religious wars initiated by the Christians with the intent to convert and spread the word of god as well as claiming the holy land from islamic rule.

John the Baptist: Came before Jesus, preaching about Gods final judgement and baptized regretful followers. Jesus was amongst those who received his right to baptism.
Marcion: A christian theologist and evangelist who claimed whoever sent Jesus Christ into the world as savior was the supreme being.
Eastern Orthodox: Stemming from Christianity and the belief in Jesus and the Gospel Eastern Orthodox is the second largest sect of christianity with approx. 220 million baptized.
Protestant: A member of Western Christian churches, who do not agree on Roman Catholic values and instead follow Baptist, Presbyterian, and Lutheran churches, and the principles of reformation.
Reformation: Specifically protestant, religious, political, intellectual and cultural upheaval that broke up Catholic Europe, making the beliefs that would define the continent in the modern era.
Luther: Martin Luther a theologist who made the principles for the Lutheran Church and rejected Roman Catholic beliefs. He was additionally given priest hood in the 1500's.
Calvin: Another religious theologist who stressed the doctrine of predestination in Christianity implying god had a predetermined path from all who follow him.
