The Welsh Assembly Government (2010) acknowledges that the term bilingual provision is used to refer to a wide range of teaching and learning settings that include varying amounts of Welsh language in the delivery.
Bilingual schools can include those for which a large measure of the curriculum is delivered through the medium of Welsh, those in which there are Welsh-medium and English-medium streams taught separately (sometimes called dual stream schools), and those wherein only a few elements of the curriculum or only a small number of subjects are taught through the medium of Welsh (Welsh Assembly Government, 2010).
