1066: After the battle of Hastings, kings had a board of powerful Lords (this is where the House of Lords appeared) to advise them, they still made the major decisions though.

1215: Powerful Barons and Nobels made King John sign the Magna Carter, this Charter reduced the power of the King, it also stated that no man could be put in prison without a trial in court.

1265: Simon de Montfort and a few Barons made their own parliament, the people who attended were Powerful Lords and representatives from Counties and Large Towns. This was seen as the first step to our Parliament.

1327: Edward lll often held parliament to raise taxes. He also allowed representatives from Counties and Towns, these reps sat separately form the king, the chamber they sat in was known as the House of Commons.
